For those with access to peer-reviewed journals, we highly recommend reading "A Marked Man: Female-Perpetrated Intimate Partner Abuse" by Jacquelyn Allen-Collinson of the University of Exeter. It's a harrowing look at the severe physical and emotional trauma undergone by a man known as "NH", a man who stayed in an increasingly abusive relationship for nearly twenty years.

In many respects, he was similar to all of us who have undergone domestic abuse-- a fifty year old professional with a wife and kids, steady income, and a house he called home. However, as those who frequent our website are well aware of, outward appearances can be quite deceiving. Subjected to beatings from guitars, full beer cans, and other materials, NH lived a double life before taking control of his situation and finding an effective solution to stopping the abuse that he clearly did not deserve.

Considered a must read from the creators of Ending Domestic Abuse Against Men, and an excellent example of the literature that is beginning to shed light on abuse that, until recently, has not received enough attention in both the scholarly and mainstream media fields.
